An unveiling ceremony typically takes place 11-12 months after the interment, however those families who are more traditional may erect a memorial anytime after 30 days following the burial or interment.
Absolutely. We have two sample videos, a brief overview, and an explanation of the “History of the Unveiling” available to view on our website and our YouTube Channel.
We recommend planning the Virtual Unveiling at least 60 days in advance of the date you would like to receive the video link as it will allow for enough time to speak with our team, connect with the Rabbi or Clergy member, and share images and stories to be used during the Virtual Unveiling, as well as edit and produce the video.
No, you do not need to provide us with a particular date, as our filming schedule is determined by the availability of a group composed of Jewish Unveilings, Clergy, and our videographer and editing team.
Once you purchase a Virtual Unveiling from our website, a team member will be in contact to review pertinent information. We will then reach out to a member of our Clergy team, and provide them with this information, as well as any photos or words you have shared with us. Next, the Clergy will contact you directly to discuss the unveiling, review the information provided, and answer any questions you may have. We will then film the unveiling, edit the video, and provide you with a link you may share with family and friends.
Certainly. Our team will speak with the Rabbi or other Clergy ahead of the unveiling and will ensure they reach out to you and your family. We prefer that you confer as it allows you to share personal and relevant information about your loved one that you may wish to have shared on your behalf during the Virtual Unveiling service.
The unveiling service will typically last about 10-15 minutes. The length of the service may be determined by the number of readings and prayers. If there are no readings provided by the family, the service may be about 8-10 minutes in length.
You will be able to view the Virtual Unveiling for as long as you wish, once it is downloaded.
Our team will provide a link to the Virtual Unveiling video, which you may share with family and friends that you would like to view the service. An option to download the video is also available.
You can submit any images or words you would like to have read aloud at the Virtual Unveiling to [email protected].
Jewish Unveilings does not provide monuments for purchase. If you reside in the New York/New Jersey Tri-State area, you may contact our partner, Sprung Monuments, however, we are available to work with any monument provider in the area.
Common dates to visit the cemetery include the Yahrzeit (Hebrew date of passing), the Anniversary of Death (Gregorian Calendar), the deceased’s birthday, and dates around the four Yizkor dates, which are Yom Kippur, Shemini Atzeret, the 2nd day of Shavuot, and the 8th day of Passover. Please note that Jewish cemeteries may not be open on Yizkor dates. We invite you to contact your local cemetery to verify this information.
Candles should be lit at sundown the night prior to the Yahrzeit or Yizkor date. Please contact our team for further information about Yahrzeit Calendars or Yizkor candles.
Disclaimer: Please note the unveilings will take place on a date determined by Jewish Unveilings, Clergy, and our film partners, and not one specified by the family. The Virtual Unveiling may be delayed if the monument provider has not set the monument.
